When the iPad came out, I was one of
the first in my university to get it. I was mesmerized by it and by how much
easier it made my life as a college student. Back then, there weren't many
apps. I found myself wishing there was an app that did this and did that. That
motivated me to learn to code.
I don't remember how I came across
Codecademy but I immediately fell in love with its interface and interactive
method. Have in mind that this was just a few short months after its launch.
The only course they offered was JavaScript. Unfortunately, university and a
whole mountain of other reasons deterred my learning process. I put learning to
code aside for a couple of years.
On 2013, I signed in again into
Codecademy and felt like a kid in a candy store (or, well, just me in a candy
store). There were so many courses!
I decided to visit my old friend
JavaScript whom I didn't remember well. The new interface was lighter and I
liked it even more. I didn't like JavaScript as much so I ventured into
HTML/CSS and raced through it. I finished it before I finished the JavaScript
course.
I learned a lot through this courses
but I didn't feel prepared so I looked for other resources which I will talk
about on my next post.
